The first thing you should do is contact the parish office or talk to one of the priests in the parish to express your interest. It would also help us out if you completed this Becoming Catholic Form. You may also call the church office at 337-893-0244 to speak to John Listi ([email protected]).
The exact requirements for becoming Catholic will vary based on your situation. If you are already a baptized Christian, then it's usually a shorter and simpler process. If you do not have any faith tradition or are not baptized, there is a longer process. Either way, we'll start with a initial get-to-know-you interview to see where you're at in your journey and how we can help you on your journey of faith.
In almost every case, you will spend some time attending classes to learn about the teachings and practices of the Catholic faith. We'll also start working on the practical aspects of living as a Catholic and helping you to overcome any obstacles that may be present.
When does it start?
Whenever you're ready to start your journey!
From September until Easter Sunday, there are weekly classes we'll ask you to attend. We also have a few introductory sessions that we offer after Easter and during the Summer.
Depending on your circumstances, we may ask you to attend a full year of preparation or only a few months.
What should i do right now?
Pray, Study, and Get Involved.
Pray every day in a simple and direct way to God. Ask him to help you come to know and love him better. Then, try out some of the many devotions and prayer styles offered by the Catholic faith. Don't worry about trying to learn and do all of them! Just find a few practices that help and be faithful to those.

Going to Mass can be a little intimidating and confusing for non-Catholics. It's kind of the "deep end of the pool" for the Catholic faith, so don't worry if it doesn't immediately make sense. We promise there's a lot more to love and that it will make more sense once you get the rest of it. If you're already familiar or are eager to see what it's like, you're welcome to join us!
A lot of people find the ACTS retreat to be a wonderful introduction to the community.
If you have children or are under 18 yourself, you may find it helpful to plug into our various faith formation opportunities.
